King Dasaratha had three wives and had four sons. King Dasaratha’s wife Kekai wanted his son Bharata to be the king, while King Dasaratha wished to make his elder son Rama king. Due to which Kekai said to Dasaratha to send Rama exile for 14 years. Then King Dasaratha said Rama to go to exile for 14 years.
When Rama started going to exile, his wife Sita also went with him. Rama’s younger brother Laxman also insisted on going with him, and then he had to take Sita and Laxman with him. Rama Laxman and Sita were living and spending their lives in the forest.
The king of Lanka, Ravana’s sister, Soupnekha, had come. She was fascinated by the appearance of Laxman, and she wanted to marry with Laxman. Laxman refused to marry, but she was not agreeing. Then Laxman got angry and cut off the nose of Soupnekha from his bow, which led her to Lanka crying and telling her brother Ravana the incident, Ravana was very angry reached the forest to take revenge from Laxman.
There Sita appeared to him, and he planned to kidnapped Sita. So he came to Sita’s hut as a hermit and started asking for alms when he asked for donations. Then Sita came out of her shelter to donate, and she began giving gifts. Laxman had drawn around line around the hut, which is called Laxman Rekha. And no one could enter it.
So Ravana told Sita that I would not take any closed begging, so Goddess came out of this line and laid me, Sita did not want to come out and give alms, but Ravan started saying that I will not take tied donation if you do not come out. So I will leave, then Sita had to cross that line and layout forcefully, and after which Ravana kidnapped Sita and sat on Pushpak plane with her.
When Rama and Lakshmana returned to their hut, Sita did not found there. They have wandered Sita everywhere. They found Jatayu, who was a great bird, and he would take save Sita from Ravana. But Ravana attacked him and cut off his wings, and he fell injured.
Now he wanted to find Ravana, but he did not know where to go. Then he wandered in the forest, met Sugriva, the king of the apes and asked him for help. King Sugriva agreed to help Rama and started assisting him with the army of all his monkeys. His army also included Hanuman who could fly in the air to find Sita.
Hanuman flew and started looking for Sita in four directions, he crossed the sea and reached Lanka and found Sita. When he reached Hanuman Sita, he had taken Ram’s ring with him to show him that he had come to see him on behalf of Rama. Hanuman showed the ring to Sita and told him that Rama is looking for him and will soon take him from here.
Hanuman is hungry want some food Sita said him took food from trees. Hauman was eating fruits from trees. Ravana’s army was stoping him not to bear fruits but human eating fruits. Ravana’s army took Hanuman hostage and made him to Ravana. Ravana asked cause for coming there. Hanuman said that you had committed a massive crime by kidnapping Sita. You have to return Sita and got apologize to Shri Ram, and he will forgive you. Ravana refused to answer and said to his soldiers to fire the tail monkey Hanuman. Hanuman got very angry and wandered all over Lanka and set the whole Lanka on fire.
After this, he went to the sea. He crossed the sea and reached Ram. And told the whole incident. Ram, along with Ram Laxman and Sugrim started preparing to cross the sea.
It was not so easy to cross the sea and go to war in Lanka, and then the whole Hanuman army together made a bridge on the sea, which is called Ramsetu. Huge stones used in its construction. After the development of this dam, the whole army of monkeys crossed the sea and reached Lanka, and a war started between Ravana’s army and Ram’s army inside Lanka.
Ravana was mighty. He also had a vast army, which took a long time to fight Rama’s army. Ravana’s brother Kumbhakaran & Ravana’s son Meghdoot and thousands of his soldiers participated in the war. Rama’s army defeated everyone; after this, Ravan came for the war. A fight started between Ravana and Rama.
In this war, Rama’s younger brother Laxman was injured and became unconscious due to which Rama became very worried. Sanjeevani boot was needed to save Laxman’s life. Hanuman brings Sanjeevi booti with the mountain.
After this, a very fierce battle took place between Rama and Ravana. Ram wanted to kill Ravana, but Ravana got a boon due to which he could not be defeated.
Ten headed Ravana would not have died even if he hit his navel with an arrow. Then Ravana’s brother Vibhishan told Ram that if you attack Ravana’s navel, then we will die. Ram struck the navel of Ravana.
The day Ravana was killed, the same day is called Vijayadashami or Dussehra.
